Tom Halpin Back Attack Series
In this post I discuss the Tom Halpin Back Attack Series. Tom Halpin, is an Irish born Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Roberto ‘Cyborg’ Abreu. He was awarded his black belt in 2017 at Fight Sports Academy in Miami. Halpin has established himself as one of the toughest European competitors of his generation. What makes this all the more impressive is he has achieved this while being a mostly self-taught grappler.
Tom has recently won the Combat Jiu-Jitsu worlds including a win against the legendary Masakazu Imanari. He also won the 2019 ADCC European trials winning 5 matches, 4 of which came from submissions. Two of his submissions were by the rear naked choke.
I have been studying Tom’s back attack system for a while and have implemented elements of it into my game. I find Tom’s instructional delivery more engaging and easy to follow than some of the more ‘popular’ coaches, with the added bonus that they are free for everyone.
